I know this is tough to hear

But right now, your own thoughts are the biggest barrier to growth in your business.
You see…
I’ve coached a lot of Copywriters over the years who believe that taking small, incremental steps toward their dreams is the best approach, when in reality, it’s this approach that’s actually preventing you from getting what you want.
→ Because without realizing it, thinking small-and-safe means that over time, you’re making less than you’re capable of year after year.
And it’s all because of this pesky little thing called…
Ego.
Your ego is that little (usually negative) voice in the back of our heads that controls the choices we make. Your ego is afraid of losing and it’s afraid of what other people think if you do lose.
And your ego may even be thinking “I don’t need to read this article,” because it feels uncomfortable even TALKING about it. (See how sneaky that lil mofo is.)
So let’s be real, and call out WHY it’s doing these things – It’s because…
Let me know if this internal monologue sounds familiar;
And you’re like, yeah that makes total sense.
*Nods in agreement and closes laptop*
Sometimes, we don’t even get to that point. Because another thing that the ego loves to do is cut off conversations with ourselves before they even begin. It’ll stop ambitious thoughts in their tracks to mitigate any chance of us actually going out there and doing the thing. This big scary brave thing that could end in disaster.
So how do we get rid of ego, Krystle? you may be wondering…
And my answer?
What we have to do is learn how to work with the ego. How to understand it, speak its language, and demote it from star of the show to background singer (who sometimes has their mic muted).
And if you aren’t already fluent in ego, the dialect it speaks is “what if”.
(I’m nearly convinced a list may be the cure for most everything.)
So start by listing out every “What if” swirling around in your mind.
Every damn one.
Things that might go badly, telling people that it didn’t work out, having to try again, not filling spots in the program, etc.
What if you get the dream business that you wanted? What if you get the dream life that you are afraid to imagine? The time, the freedom, the house, the vacations, the ease.
Be specific.
Then, look at that list and read it back to yourself. Read back everything that you could have.
That is the exercise that I did in the first year of my business when things were so hard and I didn’t know what to do. I remember crying to Dale saying, “Should I keep going? Or should I just fold my cards and stop? This is too much stress. Too much work. Too emotionally draining.”
And the second I did this exercise, nailed down my big vision, and thought “Ok, what’s the worst that can actually happen?” I felt a shift. And now I am sitting in Mauritius saying this to you from our dream place next to the beach, turquoise waters where we go snorkeling in the morning + paddle boarding at sunset, have amazing friends, and a life I literally dreamed up less than two damn years ago. The power of that is not lost on me.
That’s the only way that I grew the KC brand from solo show to a team of four *pretty incredible* women in 12 months.
And now we’ve expanded again and we’re on track to triple our revenue this year while I’m taking more time off in the business than I ever have in the past.
You see, when you think big and take big action, it compounds, which means rapid growth.
And this isn’t just the case for me.
The women I’m surrounded with in so many different business settings (from clients, to colleagues + mentors) are bringing on massive growth and transformation in their own companies by not sitting around waiting.
By not playing small or entertaining small ideas.
They took huge leaps.
And when everyone else was getting comfortable and ready to just grow one inch at a time for fear of failure for giving into that ego, they did the opposite.
→ What matters is thinking big, then taking big action.
And I want to tell you something that I wish someone had told me sooner:
You need to surround yourself with those types of women who know how the ego works AND how to put it in its place (repeatedly). This is a hard thing to do alone, trust me on that one. And when you have that support system and network to keep you on track and inspire you to be ambitious, it makes it that much easier to do it yourself.
In my Freedom Found Collective, a 9-month Mastermind for ambitious female entrepreneurs wanting this exact kind of high-touch support, I do just that. With the exact strategies that’ve tripled my business year-on-year, I’ll help you gain clarity on how to scale your copy-business for sustainable growth – so you can break that ego cycle and lead your dream lifestyle with confidence and ease.
