Everyone wants success when starting a business, but ensuring that growth is sustainable and realistic in the long run is something many CEOs wait to plan for until the last minute, when it’s often too late.
Since I don’t want you to learn the hard way….
Here are 3 key things to help you get started planning for a sustainable business with long-term, consistent growth:
Time
It’s easy to get swept up in the day-to-day and not focus on the big picture.
Prioritize creating space in your daily, monthly, and quarterly planning for you to dedicate time to needle-moving, big-picture projects for your own business (not your clients’). I have a great blog post outlining the exact details on how you can do just that.
Think about it. You went into business because you wanted something different. Maybe to escape the pressures of outdated corporate culture, or more flexibility so that you can be present with your family –
But when you get sucked into the hustle culture that the online business space often promotes, we often don’t make time for seriously planning out our next 6-12 months worth of growth in our own business.
So, as a thought experiment – If you didn’t have any other commitments except growing your own business, what projects would you design?
What could you create that would grow your revenue (or your time-freedom) faster than ever?
Energy
You are nothing without your mental health, which is a major consideration when pouring all of your energy into business’ growth.
Thinking about your energy as a resource will help you set up boundaries that promote a healthy balance of client work, creative business projects, and duh – personal self-care.
Make sure to carve out space for your non-negotiables so that you are able to show up in your business refreshed and ready conquer your goals.
Income
Time is money, but there is a key difference between exchanging your time for money and exchanging your expertise or skillset for money.
The latter can bring in more income in less time, hands down. Done-for-you work is great, but can only get you so far.
Think about different ways you can impart your wisdom to the world through Day Rates, Strategy Calls, Guest Speaking, Digital Products or other Passive Income opportunities.

These three key things are what you need to bear in mind when navigating your business’ growth, so that you can find success in a way that feels good for you.
Of course, getting there is always easier with a mentor, because why figure it all out on your own, when you enlist the help of someone (that’s me) who can give you proven steps to achieve your goals in half the time?
